Developer Regal have been granted planning for a second residential tower on the Left Bank site, next to Broad Street, in Birmingham. Planning had previously been granted for an 18 storey hotel but the developer amended the plans due to the city’s demand for housing and the new plans include a 31 storey tower including 206 apartments and some retail, leisure and restaurant space on the ground floor .Work is expected to start in the next few months with completion expected in 2019.
Regal received planning permission last year for a similar 22 storey, 189-unit residential tower on the Left Banks site. Work has already begun on this build and it is due for completion mid 2018.
This smaller tower will be finished in brass couloured cladding and the new taller tower will be finished in brushed silver to reflect the area’s Silverworks heritage.
Both projects have been designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects
